Do water-resistant cork floors exist?

Cork is a material with a wide range of applications: most commonly used as wine bottle stoppers, it can also be a great heat insulator and is known for its incredible soundproofing qualities. But is cork flooring water-resistant? Wicanders’ Hydrocork flooring is.

Is cork flooring water-resistant?

At Wicanders, we offer an incredibly resistant waterproof floating floor - Hydrocork. This water-resistant floating solution combines low thickness, extreme performance, and the comfort of cork, which makes it the perfect option for renovation projects in your home or bigger projects such as heavy traffic commercial areas.

Characteristics of Hydrocork flooring

Hydrocork is suitable for all domestic areas and commercial spaces - but it is not recommended that you use it in saunas or permanently wet areas. However, it is possible to use Hydrocork in areas such as bathrooms and kitchens as the exposure to water is relatively low.

This type of flooring should be protected from direct sunlight, which can be avoided by installing curtains or blinds in the areas you’re installing them in. In terms of maintenance, we recommend you use a vacuum cleaner or a broom. You can use a wet mop, but it shouldn’t be soaking wet.

Which flooring should I choose for each room?

We recommend the Claw Silver Oak for the kitchen floors: this flooring provides a clean look for this space we tend to spend so much of our time in.

If you’re planning on renovating your living room, we suggest our Castle Toast Oak. Combine it with some new furniture and some warm-colored walls to create a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere.

Hydrocork can be installed in bathrooms due to its water-resistant qualities and it is easy to maintain and clean. Opt for flooring that goes well with any type of color, such as the Linen Cherry.

Hydrocork is the perfect choice for your next renovation. Get inspired to transform your home with our line of water-resistant floors, designed with an innovative PressFit compression system that makes them incredibly easy to install.

Try our Floor Simulator to get a better idea of how each floor would look in each room you’re planning on renovating, which will help you decide quite easily. You can also upload photos of your own home and check how different tones and colors interact with each other.
