Three types of cork will be used in Patio da Gale’s set design
Thanks to a partnership with Corticeira Amorim, the runway shows at ModaLisboa | Lisbon Fashion Week from 7 to 9 March at Patio da Gale will take place on a Wicanders cork floored catwalk. Cork will thus occupy the main stage of the event and, as a result, a natural and comfortable material will be offering significant acoustical benefits while also providing a distinctive aesthetic to the catwalk.
Cork will be used as the main element of the set and interior design of the event designed by architects Rita Muralha and Raul Santos. Cork will not, however, be used only in the floor. Similarly to what was done at the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion, the darkish-coloured expanded insulation cork board will be widely used as interior wall lining as well as in dedicated indoor furniture.
As a result, a number of different common areas of the event such as the Fashion Parade room, the Club, the Lounge, the Wonderoom and the Backstage will be covered with cork.
